An anchor near Sand Dollar Beach

The weather was a little better so we took the dinghy to town. Had a nice walk, did some shopping and got groceries.

After our quick trip to town we dinghied back to our boat for the evening. Dinner: spinach salad and tilapia – yum!

Cave Cay to Georgetown

We left Cave Cay cut early morning. The current was quite strong going through the cut but after that the sailing was perfect all the way to Georgetown

The mooring field was full so we anchored right next to it along with a lot of other boats. Harvest Moon, with all their flags, stood out from the crowd.

We did go to town but everything was closed by the time we got there (except for Minns water sports). We came back to a lovely sunset and a LOT of conch horns.

Cave Cay to Little Farmers Cay and back to Cave Cay.

We decided to go to Little Farmers Cay because the sailing would be better tomorrow to go to Georgetown. There was supposed to be a place where you could snorkel and see sea turtles We didn’t see them in the bay so we went to the dinghy dock to check out the town (population 66). Then we saw the turtles.

We also met some nice sailors from Uruguay and Argentina and they had their daughter from Brazil. She loved the tortugas.

Later we motored back to Cave Cay and anchored near the sand bar we tried to find yesterday.

In search of the mile long sand bar.
What the sand bar is supposed to look like!

The low tide was not quite low enough to walk on the sand but we did get it to about our ankles. Found some lovely sand dollars and met some other sand bar enthusiasts from Canada. They are also heading to Georgetown tomorrow.

There are about 10 boats at anchor ready to head out the cut tomorrow morning. On to Georgetown.

From Black Point to Cave Cay

We left Black Point fairly early and hoped to get to Cave Cay to anchor early afternoon. The colors of the water still amaze me!

We dropped our anchor near Cave Cay and took the dinghy out to find this “mile long” sand bar I had seen online. Unfortunately, it was far too choppy and we both got soaked. A boat passing by stopped to make sure we were okay. They told us we were still pretty far away from it so we turned around and came back to the boat.

Later the wind really calmed down. Jeff put the drone up and got some great photos.

From Staniel Cay to Black Point

Another short hop from Staniel to Blackpoint. Time for a visit to the best laundromat in the Exumas. Here’s our view from the laundromat.

We met some Canadians on Serenity Belle who let us know Lorraine’s coconut bread (a treat on this island) was about to come out of the oven.

From the Aquarium to Staniel Cay

It started out a little rainy by Johnny Depp’s house but we motored out into a beautiful blue sky and even bluer water. The trip to Staniel Cay only took a few hours. When we got here, we launched the dinghy and went to the grotto for more fish viewing. it was amazing!

Later we went to the yacht club for some grouper fingers and a burger. Met some nice Canadians, Monica and James, and shared some sailing stories.

Outside the nurse sharks were lining up for their dinner.

We dinghy’d back during sunset – beautiful view!

Wardrick Wells to the Aquarium at O’Brien Cay

It was an easy sail from Wardrick Wells to O’Briens Cay. Along the way we saw a sea plane flying from Bell Island.

Once we reached O’Brien Cay we set an anchor and went by dinghy to the aquarium. It’s a wonderful spot to see a ton of fish in the Land and Sea Park. The fish came right up to the dinghy when we approached. We snorkeled by ourselves for a few minutes before more boats came. The fish were everywhere!

We did get out around the corner from the aquarium and the current started pulling us away. I lost a flipper but miraculously Jeff recovered it.

We then walked around a few sand bars and had a chill afternoon.
